Finding a model to be inspired by is at least a way not to drown in one’s self-centeredness, but also the necessary and sufficient starting point for every proselyte. Human miseries, the need for identification, the fascination for the different, are some of the reasons that trigger the attraction of idols, especially in frustrating, dull and immobile contexts.
Instead, we could say that those who are inspired by healthy ideals have the desire to improve themselves, to fight for principles, to pursue what is considered noble and worthy of esteem. But also having ideals implies longing for an unlikely perfection, which by nature does not exist: it exists in the imagination, in the enchantment of the seduced and flattered mind.
The crown of the statue of the goddess reason, which now remains one of my distinctive signs, takes me back to the American world, to their carte blanche that they give as a symbol of freedom, the people who do not control and do not ask, but also the homeland of the setting perfect for the greatest illusions.
Is it worthwhile to follow a faith knowing that you are betrayed, even if only in part but still living a dream, or better to trust yourself, your strength and your loneliness, only enhancing your self-esteem?
