Changing one’s consciousness means changing one’s cells. Exploring how and why we have come to the present and understanding the links between events gives meaning to our discomforts or illnesses. The cells are replaced daily and each of us reconstructs an entirely new body every seven years. It is not the past that is locked up in the body, but it is the consciousness that creates the cells that remains trapped in the past, tirelessly re-proposing the same old, and perhaps ineffective, models.
As soon as you can change that consciousness towards awareness, cells and quality of life improve. The quickest way to achieve this is to imagine one’s future by building projects and surrounding oneself with people who love and support us. If you were sad, depressed, trapped in a relationship or in a job that didn’t satisfy you and you got sick, well … think it over!
Let us ask ourselves what is the purpose of the illness or discomfort that accompanies us, but even more, let us ask ourselves what is the disease that serves the purpose. Perhaps it was the only escape route allowed to the uncomfortable situation. If you only had six months to live, would you keep the same job, the same friendships, the same partner? When we feel alone and we are stumbling, it may seem impossible to look beyond or make plans. But the good news is that we can raise ourselves.
