This work was created as part of the project “Micaelica: on the way to San Michele Arcangelo and his sanctuaries” conceived and curated by Mariachiara Martina, and represents the third stage of the Micaelica Line, an imaginary line that develops from Ireland to Israel and along which the seven most important sanctuaries dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel take place.
Mont Saint-Michel is one of the three major European places of worship dedicated to San Michele Arcangelo, together with the Sacra di San Michele in Val di Susa and the sanctuary of San Michele Arcangelo on the Gargano.
According to legend, the archangel Michael appeared in 709 to the bishop of Avranches, Saint Aubert, asking that a church be built on the rock. However, the bishop twice ignored the request until Saint Michael burned his skull with a round hole made by the touch of his finger, leaving him alive. The skull of Saint Aubert with the hole is preserved in the cathedral of Avranches.
This work had a contemplative function and positive, very beneficial influences for me. The famous process that is to be enjoyed, not so much the result!
